Personal Injury - Find out more
We handle complex multi-party litigation and regularly appear in groundbreaking cases.  Work is accepted on a conditional and collective conditional fee agreement basis and undertaken on behalf of claimants and defendants in the UK and overseas.  Areas of speciality include health and safety, PTSD and stress-related conditions, industrial diseases, highway and road traffic claims, disaster litigation, inquests, marine accidents and production liability.  Clinical and Professional Negligence is closely linked to our Personal Injury work.

We are recognised as a leading and successful set in Criminal Law with strength at all levels and instructions in all types of criminal cases including high profile and sensitive cases. With barristers on the Attorney General’s Panel of Prosecution Advocates we represent several government departments and organisations. Four Members sit as Recorders and one sits as a Deputy High Court Judge.

Fraud and corruption trials have been a speciality since modern fraud prosecutions became possible. We have been instructed for the prosecution or defence in numerous high profile and complex cases brought by prosecuting authorities in the UK and in other Commonwealth jurisdictions.  Acting for and against regulators including disciplinary tribunals, City regulators and others, investigations in a financial or commercial context are a particular speciality.  Our Team has unusual experience and familiarity with both Civil and Criminal procedures and we were involved in the criminal prosecution of Doherty where funding of the related Civil case has recently caused such a stir.

Our Family Group members have specialist and experienced practices in the law relating to children and in representing local authorities, guardians, parents, children, prospective adopters and foster parents and parties in public inquiries. They also act for local authorities and others in disclosure applications by and against the police and the CPS.


Police Law - Find out more

A well established and experienced number of practitioners make up the Police Law Team who cover all aspects of civil litigation involving the police. Areas covered include civil claims for damages, judicial review work, inquests, applications for police led orders, discipline work, discrimination claims, human rights claims, firearms licensing, premises licensing and specialist advisory work relating to operational matters.

Working for claimants and defendants, Chambers’ reputation in Personal Injury attracts solicitors’ negligence cases with allegations that Personal Injury or Clinical Negligence litigation has been mishandled. Our barristers’ experience in commercial and construction disputes and property law is applied equally valuably in other areas of Professional Negligence work, including surveyors, architects and non-contentious areas of solicitors’ practices such as conveyancing. Our Team has expertise in dealing with issues such as the inter-relation between duties in contract and tort, limitation and the valuation of lost chances.

Barristers in our Property Team deal with all aspects of property-related work; from co-ownership and trust disputes to commercial leases. Members appear in courts at all levels, acting for both landlords and tenants, and have extensive experience of the more specialised tribunals, such as LVTs, the Lands Tribunal and the Adjudicator to the Land Registry. Two members edit Sweet & Maxwell’s Landlord and Tenant Reports. Team members are experienced in various methods of ADR and two members are CEDR-accredited mediators.


Commercial Disputes - Find out more
The Commercial and Business Team has in-depth expertise across the areas of law most commonly encountered in commercial disputes and a range of seniority to meet client’s needs from fast-track sale of goods disputes to complex High Court litigation. Team members are able to advise and draft necessary documentation at short notice and can assist in obtaining urgent interim relief such as freezing injunctions, search orders and other injunctions.

Drawing on the wide range of established and experienced practitioners with civil and criminal expertise in our various teams, the Regulatory and Disciplinary Team is able to cover most aspects of regulatory and disciplinary proceedings and deal with parallel or associated civil or criminal proceedings.

Chambers brings a substantial depth of knowledge and expertise to bear on a wide range of sporting disputes and issues.
